13 Year cycle

The Maya worked with cycles of 13.
A wavespell is a 13 day period and was used like we use a 7 day week.
The Tzolkin is made up of twenty 13-day wavespells.

The year is also divided by 13 moons, each with an animal constellation to preside over it.

We also can divide our lives into 13 year cycles. Simply check what day in the Tzolkin your birthday falls on and from that you have an idea about what kind of year you are going to have.

For example: if your birthday fell on a Red Lunar Moon day then you would be starting the second year of your 13 year cycle. This is because `lunar` is the name for the number two. You then take into account the meaning for the glyph of the day of your birthday and when you combine the characteristics of the number as well,
you can get a good idea about what kind of year your having.

You can also chart your whole life cycle by finding out about all your birthdays.

Because of the mathematics of the calendar your birthday will always fall on one of four type of days. A person born on a Red Dragon day will always have a birthday that falls on either a Red Dragon, White Worldbridger, Blue Monkey or Yellow Warrior day. This group is called your earth family and people born on those other days share the same cycle as you.
Only the number for the day changes.

Here is how of a life chart works.
It follows the pattern of your earth family group but the number changes.

Born June 7 1992 White Electric (3) Dog

First birthday June 7 1993 Blue Self- Existing (4) Eagle

Second Birthday June 7 1994 Yellow Overtone (5) Sun

Third Birthday June 7 1995 Red Rhythmic (6) Serpent

and so on.

When you get to your 52nd birthday it will be the same day in the calendar as it was on the day that you were born. To understand fully what kind of year you are having, look to see if it falls on a portal day, because if it does that will mean you are having a portal year which doesn`t happen often . A portal year entail portals or `doors`, being open for you. If your birthday falls on a your challenge glyph than that year will be a challenge.
