| The
Scorpion moon is the second moon of the
year.

August 23 -September 19
The
Scorpion moon is the second moon of the Mayan year. The number
two represents challenge and polarisation. It is a good
moon for facing challenges. The Scorpion is a powerful creature
feared and respected all over the world. The Scorpion moon begins
on the same day as Virgo and out of all the moons this one is
the moon that most coincides with the date of a Western astrological
sign. The Mayans called it Dzec and they saw in the
sky a huge constellation of a Scorpion.
Beginning just under the constellation of the plough
and encompassing Leo and Virgo as part of it.
The
Mayans regarded the Scorpion as a mysterious creature and attributed
it with supernatural powers. The deadly sting of this dangerous
creature was seen as test of pain and endurance. To survive a
sting of a Scorpion denotes great power and magic. The Mayans
like all indigenous people, saw that to be bitten by an animal
was one way of that animal claiming you.The animal becomes your
totem. You never know when you might encounter a deadly Scorpion
and they carry with them that sense of the unexpected.
People born under this moon will have that quality and they can
be unpredictable too.
This
is a good moon to face challenges and overcome obstacles. Focus
your energy during this moon on being offensive and not defensive.
Now is not the time to be complacent. Scorpions are known magically
to be powerful protectors against evil. Hang a picture up In your
home of a Scorpion to help balance energies in your space. If
you are feeling threatened call upon Scorpion to protect you.
Imagine your hands are pinchers and shape shift into this deadly
creature. During the Scorpion Moon it is a good time to take on
challenges. Polarise situations to your benefit. People born under
this moon will have the characteristics of the number two and
of the totem Scorpion. Their whole lives are full of challenges
Luckily, they are equipped to deal with them and they take life
in their stride.
Scorpions are powerful creatures and it is wise to give them respect.

The
information about the constellations and crystals in this section
come from an out -of -print book by Hugh Harleston jnr.
`Zodiac de Maya`. This book was the only one ever printed that
named the constellations and they were based on his archelogical
findings. The interpretation of the meanings of the animals comes
from T.O`Sinend, a teacher of animal Totemnism and here on this
website is the only place anywhere that this information is available.
