The Deer moon is the third moon of the year

September 20- October 17

The Deer moon is the third moon of the Mayan year. It begins just at the end of Virgo and overlaps into Libra. The Mayans called the Deer ‘Keh’ and saw it in the sky turning away from Leo towards Virgo but enormous compared to them both. The deer’s nose is Bootes and his back legs stretch passed Corvus. Deer is another animal found in myth and legend all over the world and it is respected in many cultures. Hunted since the dawn of man, Deer has enabled us to survive. Man has adapted to unforgiving climates by making warm deerskin coats and deerskin covered dwellings. The Deer moon is the third moon and the number three represents service. The deer certainly has been of service to man and people born under this moon will be of great use to their fellow mankind. People born under this moon are not here on earth to party and live life in vain. They are here to benefit the world and may find their lives are quite tough.
Luckily then that these people are well liked for they carry the grace and innocence of the deer with them wherever they go.
They do not show fear but have accepted their lot and sail through life peacefully. During this moon everyone can take the opportunity to be of more service to their loved ones. A good time to contemplate and to go about your day more gracefully. The deer certainly has a cool style and this what makes it such a wise and humble creature.

SACRED CRYSTAL

CYMOPHAENE

The information about the constellations and crystals in this section come from an out -of -print book by Hugh Harleston jnr. `Zodiac de Maya`. This book was the only one ever printed that named the constellations and they were based on his archelogical findings. The interpretation of the meanings of the animals comes from T.O`Sinend, a teacher of animal Totemnism and here on this website is the only place anywhere that this information is available.
